The writer Rosario Buonassisi explains how
to make the Italian specialty to Americans

(News ITALIA PRESS) 21-1-2002 - New York

“Pizza: From Its Italian Origins to the Modern Table”. This is the title of the book with which the Italian writer Rosario Buonassisi presents one of the most famous and traditional Italian specialities to the population of the United States.  One way of teaching overseas cooks the true art of preparing a 100% Italian delicacy.  “American pizza,” Buonassisi claims, “as it is prepared today, is a true insult to good cooking.  But you don’t have to go to Italy to learn the true recipe for this dish. All you have to do is start work in your own kitchen.”  Starting at this point, Buonassisi begins to explain and demonstrate how easy it is to make a good pizza.  “The secret to this dish,” continues the Italian cook, “lies in its simplicity.  And I can guarantee that once you have tasted the taste of a real pizza at home, you’ll forget about those take-out places.”  In order to recall the origins of the most famous dish in the world, Buonassisi doesn’t forget to include a few lines about the history of pizza. “All in all,” concludes this Italian author, “American pizza seems to taste like the take-out box it comes in.”
