I was thrilled when I heard in 1977 that "The National Italian Sports Hall of Fame " (NIASHF) was being formed, and I am now thrilled again to hear 28 years later that it nearing completion of the additional second floor. It is a marvelous project!

As is pointed out by Joseph Matalone, Director of Development for NIASHF,
there is a fund raising campaign underway, that is offering Sponsorships to 700 people for the Limestone "Pietra" Plaques.

I know that they have all kinds of memorabilia on display, but I sure would like to have the NIASHF collect, compile, and to make available on their Web Site vast amounts of Information on each of the Inductees. I counted 200.

Everyone would then consider NIASHF as the "first" place to come to find the "definitive" word AND the "last word" on ALL Italian American Sports Heroes, and
the Hall and the Site would be the envy of all other ethnicities.

I would like to take this opportunity to give you some information on a project that is very special, the Pietra campaign.  As you know, the elegant home of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame is now nearing completion.  This home will provide a way to honor our special heroes.

These heroes include both Italian American sports champions and other
extraordinary citizens who have gone before us.

This is a brilliant way for you to pay tribute to those who have had an impact on your life.  The Stairway of Fame is the perfect outlet to demonstrate your admiration and pride.  This is a limited chance to sponsor the creation of one of only 700 Pietras.

These limestone plaques will be engraved with the names of those who have deserved such tribute.  Upon completion, the Pietras will line the walls of the grand, spiral staircase that is the Stairway of Fame.

Purchasing a Pietra is a once in a lifetime opportunity in which it is imperative to act promptly.  Because there are so few Pietras available, they are commissioned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
