On New Year’s Eve 1970, Italian-American union official Jimmy Fusaro is
brutally slain in his Passaic, NJ, office.  Darrell, his eight-year old Grandson,
overhears the details of Jimmy’s murder while hiding in the family basement.

Some thirty-odd years later, still haunted by the unsolved murder, Darrell
revisits the crime, and performs a gut-wrenching portrayal of his family’s fallout
following their beloved patriarch’s horrific murder as seen through the
innocent eyes of a child.

“A compelling evening in theater, enhanced by this natural storyteller!  The
audience was enthralled from start to finish and jumped to standing ovation”
– Peter Filichia, Theater Critic, NEW JERSEY STAR-LEDGER

"One of the most searing explorations of a man's trials and tribulations ever
presented on stage.  THE BASEMENT is a variation of Dante's DIVINE COMEDY set
in New Jersey.  Darrell Fusaro's family is our family; but his commitment to
telling its saga is surely as heroic as acting ever gets."
                                --Bruce Feld, BACKSTAGE

“Following another standing ovation, in the end THE BASEMENT isn’t a tale of
murder and woe.  It’s about a child’s love for his grandfather, and creating
something beautiful from the ugliness all around.  A night of theatrical
genius!”
--Melissa Monahan, DATELINE JOURNAL, NJ

“Fusaro weaves a history that is both funny and poignant.  His gift for
language and formidable talent as an actor can warm the heart and tingle the spine.”
– Martin Hernandez, Theater Critic, LA WEEKLY, LOS ANGELES, CA
