BUDWISER
OR BUDDUMBER?
To:
You who are NO Friends of Mine! aka Those at Budwiser!
Who
may consider changing their name from Budwiser to Buddumber.
I originally
wrote you:
It
is enormously distasteful, and bigoted for you to use only Italian
appearing,
and caricatured stupid sounding males in your "Whatsup" ad.
Would
you have considered a like ad utilizing Blacks with a "S'up" ad?
Obviously
not! It would be as mocking and demeaning as is the
Italian/"Whatsup"
ad.
Why
couldn't it been as funny and not bigoted by having a "diversity" of
races,
and nationalities?
Unless
I receive a satisfactory response, I intend to start my own personal
campaign
to "bad mouth" Bud in any way I can, and I do have a considerable
network
of 5000+ Email recipients who are receptive to my messages.

Your
(Budwiser's) 'Canned" Response:
Richard,
Thank you for taking the
time to e-mail Anheuser-Busch to share your thoughts
with us. We appreciate
and respect the views of all of our customers.
In addition, we try continually
to communicate the quality of all our beer
brands, sometimes in a more
light-hearted way rather than a straight forward
approach.
We realize that not all advertising
can appeal to every consumer. Feedback
from our research indicated
our advertising campaigns were well liked. We would
like to apologize for your
displeasure.
We sincerely appreciate your
comments and hope that you will consider choosing
Anheuser-Busch products
in the future. Please feel free to e-mail us should you
have additional questions
or comments.
Again, Richard, thank you
for taking the time to contact Anheuser-Busch.

My
Reply to Budwiser "Canned" Response:
You
state that you "communicate... sometimes in a more light-hearted way."
Mocking,
and Degrading a Nationality is NOT light hearted!
It
is Mean Spirited, Bigoted, and Morally Reprehensible!!!!
You
say:"not all advertising can appeal to every consumer" .
We
are not talking about appealing, but Insulting and Demeaning!
Why
were you not more sensitive to the current emphasis on "Diversity", and
had
a multi cultural cast, which would have not detracted from the ad being
amusing,
and yet would not have avoided being defamatory and bigoted.
You
are furthering the inaccurate and unfair Stereotype of Italian =
Illiterate.
In
that same vein, will the Anheuser Busch families, which I understand are
of
Germanic ancestry consider creating a "light hearted" Ad with NAZIS, so
the
connection of German = Nazi continue to be further indelibly impressed
on
the
public's mind?
A former
"Bud" Buddy, and now a "Bud" Basher.
