47 percent of Italian believe that Iraqis were better off with Saddam Hussein and that the invasion worsened their situation.

This is what emerged from an Swg-"L'Espresso" survey, which indicates how 54 percent are favourable to see UN troops substitute the coalition and 24 percent wish for a simple withdrawal of all foreign troops.

Surprisingly the most critical judgement on the war came from defining themselves as right wing, 53 percent saying it made things worse, compared to a 45 percent of the left, and 26 percent of the centre-right.

Only the centre-left was more critical, with 66 percent. (AGI)
