HBO "Family Bonds"- We Need Your Support!!!
The ANNOTICO Report

Dona De Sanctis, Deputy Executive Director, Order Sons of Italy in America
has sent out a message  requesting Support.

OSIA , and the entire Italian American Community needs Each of you to Email:  bill.mesce@hbo.com

BECAUSE: Commission Social Justice (of the Order of Sons of Italy) President Al DeNapoli sent a letter last month complaining about the new reality series:

“Family Bonds.”

Mr.DeNapoli stated to HBO that: It presents the Evangelista family of bail bondsmen and their families.  The NY Times noted that the show’s main characters “make Tony and Carmela Soprano seem like Nick and Nora Charles.”  (upper class husband and wife characters from Hollywood and TV’s golden eras.)

In replying to Al’s letter, HBO noted that ours was the only complaint it had received about the show. (!!)  They said HBO tracks these complaints through its consumer affairs department.

We therefore urge all activists to send a short e-mail to Bill Mesce, director of consumer affairs immediately.

In your note, just say that the series depicts Italian Americans in a negative light as people who can’t speak English properly, are uneducated, eat and drink too much and have no manners or taste.

Then ask HBO to produce programs about real Italian American who have been war heroes, inventors, judges and the like.

Try to make your letter sound original.  Do not quote from this message directly.  They discard messages that seem canned.
