Nicola Calipari, Giuliana Sgrena, Investigation, Yes- BUT, Information NOW!!

The ANNOTICO Report

The US is promising an Investigation of the Attack on the Released Hostage Giuliana Sgrena,
the death of Nicola Calipari, and wounding of one or two other Italian Intelligence Agents.

"Investigation", translated that means.... we need time to get plausible
stories that both the US and Italian government can agree on, that will
soothe the public outcry, since Italy is having Elections next week, and
since neither Bush nor Berslusconi want a rupture their partnership in the
War, that is NOT supported by 80% of Italians (and Europeans).

Any time, you do not have an easily supportable story, you Deny and Delay,
and Call for an Investigation, that can take a LONG time, and hopefully the
Public Furor will have waned.

When you are in the right, you naturally Rush to present Evidence that will
Exonerate You!!!!

I'm Not saying there should not be a Investigation of the Entire Matter
with all these "side" issues, but we are entitled to BASIC INFORMATION NOW!!!!!

On one hand, we have read media quotations from the initial US Statement.
[Is that in print, if so, where can I find it, and if not, why not???]

On the other hand, we have a written Statement from Giuliana Sgrena, that
contradicts key elements of the US statement.

But, it is very strange that the Italian government has Not released
written or verbal statements from the other Witness(es) in the Calipari-Sgrena car.

These Witness(es) could IMMEDIATELY either Support or Dispute Sgrena's
Statements, regarding plain FACTS,( Not her Speculations as to whether the attack was
Deliberate or Not).

However, The US and Italy can't agree on how many were in the car. US
claims 3, Italy says 4. How could that be??? I am Not going to get diverted, BUT I need to know
whether there are ONE or TWO  Witnesses that can Support or Dispute Sgrena.

Then, What will they Say???

THEN, How much pressure can be brought on them to Ultimately tell a story
that will support the Italian Government, their employer, on the basis
that,  Yes Sgrena is right on the facts, but in the Interests of National
Security (that's used a lot), we must not jeopardize this War for
Democracy, (or your career, or life) and we must "modify" the facts
slightly, in the interest of the "bigger" picture.

Why didn't we hear IMMEDIATELY from Calipari's or Sgrena's fellow
occupant's of the car, and NOW after such a lapse of time, can we believe
them, if they contradict Sgrena??

The Italian government needs to immediately Release the Results of the
Debriefing occurring immediately AFTER the Attack.  NOW!!!!

I want to know:
 

  • Was it Checkpoint Sentries or a Patrol that fired on them ?
  • From Stationery or Mobile Positions?
  • If a Check Point, was it a Known Checkpoint, or an Impromptu CheckPoint?
  • What was the Speed of their Vehicle?
  • Was there a Prior Warning, before the 400 shots??
  • How many people were firing at them ?
  • Did they Notice whether those who approached them after the firing were
  • US Military or "Contractors" ?
  • When did the Attackers seem to Notice that you were not Hostiles??
  • What was their Reaction, upon recognizing their Error?

    Easy, Basic questions to answer, to determine whether we have been hearing
    merely the Hysterical Rantings of a Female Marxist, as charged!!!

    Then we can get to:
     

  • Did the Italian government that was on the phone at the time hear any warning shots?
  • What did the Italian government do after contact with the car was cut off in mid sentence?
  • Is it true all victims were held at the site for an hour before being taken to a hospital, or where?
  • Why the delay???????
  • Was there an Italian Colonel with US personnel waiting at the Airport?
  • Was an Italian Military plane cleared by US Airport Personnel for this Mission?
  • Why were they so easily able to clear other Checkpoints, and not this "alleged" check point?
  • Are the Checkpoints Not made aware of VIPs or Persons of Interest coming through?
  • Why did the US report the car as "lost", so that inspection by the media is not possible now?
  • Since Calipari was the "facilitator" of this a second Hostage Ransom, was HE the Target, rather than Sgrena, with one bullet to his temple, and no other wounds??

    So many other questions,... and the greater the delay in answering them
    from the Italian government, the MORE reason to be suspicious of a "Cover Up".

    I don't expect ANY Truth from the Bush government.

    I'm hoping for SOME from the Italian Government, ONLY because there is
    great Division in support of the War, and Communists within the government, will find it
    to their political advantage, to prevent a "cover up", Not that they don't lie as easily as
    the conservatives!!!


    PREVIOUS ITALIAN HOSTAGE SITUATIONS:

    Fabrizio Quattrocchi, Italian hostage was a defiant "hero" in his final
    moments, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said. Quattrocchi, a
    baker 36, had been  working as a security guard.
    The assassins took hostage Quattrocchi to a field, and had him dig a large
    hole. They then put a hood over his head and forced him to kneel by the
    grave, preparing to murder him. But Fabrizio did not cooperate. He stood
    and tried to pull off the hood, shouting, "Now I'll show you how an Italian
    dies!" The terrorists shot him in the back of the neck.

    Journalist Enzo Baldoni was executed.
    Charity workers Simona Torretta and Simona Pari were released.
