GALS'  SEX  'APPEAL'

American women do have sex on the brain — just not as much as gals in many
other countries around the world, a new survey reveals.

Esquire conducted a global sex survey of more than 11,000 women with an
average age of 22, and found that while Americans are far from prudish,
their counterparts in Europe and elsewhere push the envelope, uh, a bit
harder.

Asked if they'd rather have sex or cuddle, 63 percent of American women
said they'd be ready for a romp, while 37 percent opted for some quality
embracing.

But women in seven other nations wanted more sex — the leader being Italy,
where 83 percent chose to shake the sheets, with just 17 percent wanting a
cuddle.

American women also tend to wait longer to have sex.

Quizzed on how many dates it takes before they head for the bedroom with a
man, American women averaged 5.5 dates.

Swedish women were the quickest to get frisky with just four dates,
followed by Australian and British women with 4.4 dates, Dutch women with
4.7 dates, German and Israeli women with 5.3 and Brazilian, Italian and
Spanish women with 5.4.

As far as penis size is concerned, American women aren't that impressed.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most important, our gals rated it
only 6.2.

Israeli women found the size of a man's package the most important, ranking
it 7.4, followed by Italian women with 6.5 and Brazilian women with 6.3.

Some 33 percent of American women said they masturbate several times a week
— but Brits, Israelis, Brazilians and Indonesian women do it more.

"American women are not the most sex-minded women in the world," the mag
concludes.

However, our women do take their sex toys seriously.

Asked whether they own a vibrator or sex aid, 46 percent of American women
said yes, yes, yes.

British "birds" were second — 45 percent said they own one — followed by
Swedish women, 43 percent; German women, 38 percent; and Aussies, 34
percent.

And on the question of what age women lost their virginity, 16 was the
average age in the United States, Australia, Germany, Britain, the
Netherlands and Sweden.

It was 17 in Spain, Italy, the Philippines and Russia, and 18 in Brazil,
Israel and Poland. The women of Indonesia waited the longest — 21.

How many men have the women of the world slept with?

Women in Brazil, Israel and Russia led the pack, admitting to having bedded
10 or more men, while American women said they've slept with about nine.
Indonesia scored the lowest with only two.

One category American in which women apparently excel is threesomes — 26
percent said they'd participated in three-in-a-bed sex.

Aussies were right behind them at 24 percent, followed by Israeli women,
with 23 percent who had two other partners at once.

As far as lesbian experiences go, Aussie gals are the most experimental —
43 percent said they'd had at least one, followed by Brits, 42 percent;
Germans, 41 percent; and Americans, 39 percent.

The world's top pick-up line in the United States? Get ready to cringe:
"Don't I know you from somewhere?" In Brazil, it's the sexier, "You're
delicious!"

But the most widely used line in the world is: "You have beautiful eyes."

Esquire also asked women to rate the sexiness of President Bush on a scale
of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest.

Sorry Mr. President, but you got some pretty low ratings, with Indonesian
women finding you the sexiest with 2.2, followed by American women, at 2.1.
