Italians and Germans Forgotten in WWII Enemy Alien/Internment Story

The ANNOTICO Report

The Japanese Americans refer to the Civil Rights Violations visited on them
during WWII  as Enemy Aliens. BUT, why is it, that when the Japanese
Americans  tell their story, that they Completely FORGET to mention that
similar Restrictions were placed on Italian and German Americans.

I find it difficult to have ANY Empathy for Japanese Americans when they
completely IGNORE fellow Americans that SUFFERED the same indignities, and
act as if they were the Sole victims.

It is exponentially magnified when one realizes that 600,000 Italian
Americans were classified and treated as Enemy Aliens, 300,000 German
Americans, and only 110,000 Japanese Americans.

Heaping insult on Injury, the Japanese collected $3 BILLION, The Italians
and Germans ZERO!

It is hard to keep a straight face, when the Japanese Americans claim the
Enemy Alien Act  was Racist. 9out of 10 affected were European ancestry.

JAPANESE INTERNMENT STORY IGNORED  ITALIAN AND GERMAN AMERICANS

Virginia Tech

April 21, 2005

In the article “Japanese internment facts presented” (CT, April 19), it is
reported: "Japanese internment in the United States is often overlooked or
glossed over in current educational curriculum … "
Here is what the author did not report: during World War II, almost 11,000
German Americans and approximately 3,500 Italian Americans were interned as
well.

And it is not true that Japanese American internment is overlooked or
glossed over in the current education curriculum. Here are the facts:
almost 37 percent, 24 of the nation’s 65 largest urban public school
districts, refer to Japanese American internment in their social
studies/history curriculum standards. None of the 24 that mention Japanese
American internment makes any reference to the fact that German Americans
were also interned.

More than two-thirds, 35 of the 50 states, include Japanese American
internment in their social studies/history curriculum standards. None of
the 50 states include German American or Italian American internment in
their social studies/history curriculum standards.
