'ALERT: Risata Puttana' (Laugh Whore) Mario Cantone, Enjoys Ridiculing His Italian Heritage

The ANNOTICO Report

Warning: This TV Program by Actor and comedian Mario Cantone which is a
redux of  his two hour one-man Broadway show may offend many. From the
Material I've heard and read, which I hope is Not a typical example, Mario
in the Italian American segment of his act, seems to take too much pleasure
in "ridiculing" rather than 'affectionately teasing' his relatives. He rams
home every NEGATIVE Stereotype.

>From the recognition he has received, Mario is obviously talented. Why
couldn't he use that same talent to poke fun at the 'endearing'
idiosyncrasies and eccentricities, rather than paint them all as the
typical Italian Americans that are Negatively Portrayed on the screen ALL
The Time.

'LAUGH WHORE':

Actor and comedian Mario Cantone ("Sex and the City") stars in this
production that captures his critically acclaimed one-man Broadway show,
two hours of biting commentary on New York cab drivers, the gay subtext in
"Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," and growing up in an ITALIAN -AMERICAN
home - as well as dead-on impersonations of music legends such as Judy,
Liza, Tina, and Cher, with several show-stopping original songs
highlighting Cantone's musical range as well.

Laugh Whore is nominated for a Tony for Best Theatrical Event, but he lost
to Billy Crystal (700 Sundays). Other nominations were " Dame Edna: Back
