The ANNOTICO Report
We are led to believe by those with questionable motives
that Italian
Street Culture is dying out.
Quite to the contrary, I'm amazed at the number of Italian
Events
throughout the year, in SO many cities.
Below is one example. I didn't even know there were Italians
in
Indianapolis :)

Chris Cooksey and his fiancee, Heather Ross, had polished
off the antipasto
salad, the spaghetti and meatballs, the calamari and
the cherry chocolate
cake, and Cooksey was diving into a second helping of
spaghetti.
The Eastside couple come to the Italian Street Festival
every year for
traditional Italian specialties at reasonable prices.
"For about 20 bucks
apiece, you can," Ross began, and Cooksey finished: "oh,
just gorge
yourself."
People swarmed the 600 block of South East Street on Friday
and Saturday
nights for food, wine and carnival attractions. The festival,
organized by
Holy Rosary Church, drew Cooksey and Ross before it became
so fashionable.
"It used to be a good little secret," Cooksey said.
"But everybody knows now," Ross added.
It certainly seemed that way from the crowds that watched
a procession of
children, nuns and a variety of Italian Americans bearing
flags and a
statue of the Virgin Mary mount the steps to the church.
Church bells
tolled and Latin hymns rang out over the public-address
system as the
procession entered the church for a Mass.
