From Professor Gerard Rosa

The indictment of the entire race of Italians, based on their innate
traits, by Hansen Alexander in the St. Augustine Record was so
stupefying that it renders the reader speechless.

One is forced to revisit the darkest periods of human history for a
comparable example of ethnic/race hatred. At this tragic moment in
America it is so shameful that we can produce such virulent rhetoric.

Perhaps New Yorkers and Americans  did not fully realize that, among
those who rushed to their deaths to help others on September 11th,
2001, there were many, (25%) who, to quote Mr. Hansen Alexander,
are about "cheap wine and congregations of vigilantes," who "would
sell their country down the river to save their families," who "get even
with a personal vendetta," who "are not bashful about extolling their
own talents," who "do not hesitate to place their Italian customs on a
higher plane than more recent democratic traditions" who practice
"the Italian tradition of having a mistress," on and on, ad nauseam.

And, one might add, who, in death, are savagely vilified because of
their country of origin and their "ethnic traits."

The St. Augustine Record is to be condemned for fanning the flames
of bigotry and hatred and for an editorial policy which is devoid of
human decency.
