Batavia School Preaches CHARACTER ---- Practices Anti-Italian BIGOTRY

The ANNOTICO Report

Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, Illinois (60 miles west of Chicago) will be presenting a play entitled Fuggedaboudit, subtitled a little mobster comedy, that will be performed by the Bada  Bing Players. Apparently inspired by the HBO series, "The Sopranos", the play's plot involves characters with ITALIAN last names who are Mobsters running an ITALIAN restaurant while under surveillance by the FBI. They speak ungrammatical English with heavy New York accents.  It was written by Matthew Myers who teaches drama and communications at the school.

[Correction: I previously stated that the "impressionable" ages affected were 12-15. Actually, they are 11-13 !!!!!

Rotolo Middle School Principal Donald McKinney, and Batavia District Superintendent Jack Barshinger have both been unmoved by passionate expressions of disapproval, by Local parents, and State and National Italian-American groups expressing dismay at the insensitivity of the "Negative Stereotyping", and the "age inappropriateness" of "aping" an ADULT  CABLE show, with the kids actors group named after a "Strip club"!!!

In fact McKinney, and Barshinger in response to Dona DeSanctis, Deputy Director of the Sons of Italy (OSIA), with 600,000 supporters throughout the US, and the largest and oldest Italian American organization in the US, were rude, dismissive and mildly amused by DeSanctis' complaints, and by those of Anthony Baratta, President of the Illinois Grand Lodge of OSIA.

Now this seems more than a little strange, since on the Rotolo Middle School Web Site, in listing it's Mission, Six Pillars of Character, and Improvement Goals, McKinney, and Barshinger either are speaking out of the other side of their mouth, OR are engaging in Hypocrisy of the Basest sort, heaped on top of the Bigotry, they choose to be indifferent to.

FURTHERMORE: Barshinger is quoted in the Chicago Tribune as saying:" "I think it's middle-school appropriate and uses literary devices that are used in middle-school humor"

Barshinger is CONDONING the language used in the Sopranos, (where one hears a F---k a minute)???

Condoning the use of Language used behind teachers backs?

Or is this Language used to Teachers by Students, OR is it Language Teachers are encouraged to use in order to better "connect" with their Students???????

Barshinger needs an "appropriate" Attitude Adjustment!!!!!!!
