Maria Pratsiuk, spokesperson of "Nuovi Italiani"(New
Italians) said "If parliament approves the bill ...giving active and
passive voting rights in local administrations to foreigners who have lived
legally in Italy for more than five years," there will be a million and a
half new electors in Italy."
She claims the law applies the Strasbourg Convention Protocols..
I
have read the Original European Convention on Human Rights that convened in
Rome, Nov 4, 1950, and it's Five Protocols, Paris (3/20/1952),Strasbourg
(5/6/1963), Strasbourg (5/6/1963), Strasbourg (9/16/1963), Strasbourg
(1/20/1966), and nowhere did I find justification. See: http://www.hri.org/docs/ECHR50.html
No
need to know the Italian Language, or its History, or to serve in the Military,
or any of the other Responsibilities.
True, this
applies only to local elections, but what next, Province, Region, National ?????
Talk
about ONE ISSUE politics at its worst! This is Insanity!!!!!!! To
whom do "they" owe allegiance???
A
Single Minded bloc aligned against a Number of Parties with a Variety of
Concerns and Responsibilities will wreck havoc.!!!!!
Rome, 25 April (AKI) - A new political party

with proposed changes to the law which would allow immigrants the right to vote
in Italian local body elections. "The party is a result of the
collaboration between Italians and the representatives of the main immigrant
communities present here in
"The creation of this new party coincides with the decree-law changing the
current immigration norms. The text applies the Strasbourg Convention giving
active and passive voting rights in local administrations to foreigners who
have lived legally in
"A million and a half new electors - 200,000 in the capital alone - can
now count, with their vote, on the political choices of this country. The party
Nuovi Italiani seeks to be
a point of cohesion for all new Italian electors, aware that only through unity
can important goals be reached, like equal opportunity, the right to regular
work and decent pay and integration," Pratsiuk
concluded.
