Silvia Cavalleri First Italian Winner in LPGA Tour History

Despite a Hostile Mexican crowd, including Mexican President Felipe Calderon, cheering on the #1 ranked player in the World, 2006 winner Mexican star Lorena Ochoa,  Silvia Cavalleri shot a seven-under-par 66 final round, and a four round 20-under 272 total on the Tres Marias, Morelia, Mexico course and won $195,000 in the Corona Morelia Championship.

Morelia, Mexico -- - Silvia Cavalleri became the first Italian winner in LPGA Tour history, closing with seven-under-par 66 for a two-stroke victory over Mexican star Lorena Ochoa and Julieta Granada of Paraguay in the Corona Morelia Championship.

Cavalleri finished with a 20-under 272 total on the Tres Marias course and won $195,000. She had seven birdies in her bogey-free final round in light rain.

Ochoa, the 2006 winner playing her first tournament as the No. 1 player in the world, shot 68. A crowd of thousands, including Mexican President Felipe Calderon, crowded around the 18th hole to cheer Ochoa with shouts of "Mexico, Mexico" and "We love you, Lorena."
