J. Marchi, the nation's longest serving elected Italian American
Official, and announces the creation of an exciting new Museum,
dedicated to the Italian American experience in New York.

Scelsa, is broadcast on CUNY-TV, Cable Channel 75, in Manhattan,
Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx,

on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at 8:00 pm,
on Sunday, December 30, 2001 at 10:00 am.

First on ITALICS, we'll take you to the world famous Waldorf-Astoria
Hotel in New York City, where the Coalition of Italo-American
Associations, held its 18th Annual Leadership Awards Dinner, which
celebrates outstanding members of the Italian American community.
This year the Coalition honors Matthew Goldstein, Chancellor of The City
University of New York, as well as television personality Kelly Ripa, of
"Live with Regis and Kelly", among others.

Next on ITALICS, we'll interview New York State Senator John J. Marchi.
Senator Marchi, the Deputy Majority Leader for Intergovernmental
Affairs, represents the 24th District in Staten Island, and is the
longest sitting elected State Legislator in the United States.  Senator
Marchi, interviewed by Dr. Scelsa, discussed his views on the recent
tragedies challenging our nation today.  As the nation's longest serving
state legislator, Senator Marchi backtracked through his years in
political office, recounting his experiences with the many Mayors of New
York City that he's seen pass through office, an office he once
unsuccessfully vied for himself.  Senator Marchi, the recipient of many
honors from Italy, also spoke about his experiences as an Italian
American politician, and the importance of his Italian heritage in his
life.  The interview is the first, of a two-part interview.

Then ITALICS takes you to the Columbus Citizens Foundation,
where Mr. Joseph Grano, C.E.O. of PaineWebber, one of the world?s
leading financial institutions, spoke to an audience of influential
members of the Italian American community.  Mr. Grano, in conjunction
with Dr. Joseph Scesla and the Calandra Italian American Institute of
Queens College, and other members from the Italian American community,
are laying the foundation for an Italian American Museum in New York
City.  The Italian American Museum is anticipated to be the first of
it's kind in the United States.  After years of planning, Mr. Grano
urged the audience to stand together and support the fabrication of the
museum, as a way to preserve the Italian American culture.  The museum
will include the migration to America, as well as the whole Italian
American immigrant experience.
