Italians Say Basta
to Pasta - For One Day

Italians are
to boycott their daily dose of pasta in a one-day protest at spiraling
food prices on September 13
Again
I say, the idea of using food/grain for fuel is stupid, and a result of
lobbying by the Agri Business to drive up prices and
profits.
In
a world with Starvation, Poverty, and Droughts, this Bio fuel is a
Heartless idea. besides it doesn't address
Global Warming.
Far
more sensible is Conservation, and the use of Inexhaustible Energy, such as
Solar Power, Tidal Power, and Hybrid Energy.

ITALIANS are to
boycott their daily dose of spaghetti, fettucine and
rigatoni in a one-day pasta-eating strike in protest at spiralling
food prices.
With prices of
staple foodstuffs rising recently by as much as 30pc, consumer groups have
joined forces to call the first such national protest on September 13.
Pasta-makers have
said the reason for the 30pc price rise is a shortage of wheat because farmers
were switching to produce crops for the biofuel
industry.
But there have
been steep rises in the price of mozzarella, bread, biscuits and also
schoolbooks.
A further strike
prompted by the increased price of coffee in cafes has also been threatened.
