Rambling Round (Inside and Outside
at the same time)
by Anthony Buccino
This collection of 65 casual essays includes
these titles of interest to Italian Americans:
Kids' Christmas
Great-gramps was a 'Pumking'
After the Titanic
Strangers in old photographs
Buccino’s essays are written from the heart and the hearth
about family and the world. The sixty-five casual essays
represent his best recent work.
This showcase recalls New Jersey then and now from the
western mountains outside Blairstown to the Hudson River
shoreline at Wall Street West, and, of course, northeastern
Essex County. Readers from Ashtabula, Ohio, and other
points outside the Garden State will identify with many of
life’s encounters described here.
Readers familiar with Buccino’s earlier writing tone will
chuckle and groan through many of the author’s observations
about family, house work, high school, and those dog days.
New readers will feel like they are catching up with an old
friend, and will want to take him to Starbucks for an afternoon
of story swapping.
Among the uncirculated essays here are Buccino’s fresh view
of the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway tolls, the
Hudson River, Jersey City’s flats and the vanished Newark
City Subway.
Most of these essays appeared as the author´s Rambling
Round columns in Worrall Community Newspapers including
the Independent Press of Bloomfield, the Glen Ridge Paper,
the Nutley Journal and the Belleville Post.
