[RAA NOTE: If you have a moment, please send a comment advising Michael,
at  <<fan@michaelamante.com>> that no matter what  "good" role he plays,
he will be advancing the popularity of a show that "demeans" Italian
Americans.
I will be sending him a copy of today's Italian Tribune's Cover Story and
Editorial.]

>From James Mancuso:

This morning's (February 28, 2002) Albany Times-Union carries a long piece
on "America's Tenor," Michael Amante.  The piece is generally very laudatory
of this very popular self-made singer.

Amante is asked to tell about his plans for an acting career.
He says, " Well, they're trying to get me on 'The Sopranos, and I would do
that if the role was right -- as long as it's a positive thing.  I'm not
going to play a wise guy."

These SOPRANOS people certainly have "reach."  They will take advantage of
any publicity gimmick that they can, especially it involves recruiting
Italian-Americans to their support.

Well, Amante is to be praised for refusing "to play a wise guy."

I think, however, that Amante should be advise of how he and his Italian
heritage would be "used" by HBO and the producers of THE SOPRANOS.

Can we set out to educate him?
