Giorgio Armani has lived and breathed the project for the last five years, designing and planning every aspect from the bespoke furnishings, Eramosa stone floors, zebra wood paneling and fabric covered walls to scents for the spa accessory range and the restaurant menus: minimalist opulence meets practical elegance with every detail bearing his Armani signature.

Armani Dubai: A Very Fashionable Hotel
The Handbook; By Stephanie Hirschmiller; Friday, April 30, 2010

Take two adages: Italians do it better and Dubai does it bigger and you’ve got the Armani Hotel in world’s tallest building, the iconic Burj Khalifa. Officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by fashion maestro Giorgio Armani and Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, the new venture is nothing short of monolithic.
Occupying concourse to level eight and then further levels 38 and 39, the hotel featuring 160 guest rooms and suites, eight restaurants, a spa and exclusive retail outlets, offers sweeping views of the UAE’s first city.
“It has long been my dream to have a hotel in which I myself would like to stay and entertain family and friends,” he said. And if it’s good enought for GA...
Based on the philosophy that travel is as much an emotional journey as a physical one, the hotel assigns each guest a personal Lifestyle Manager or super concierge to understand and cater to their every desire and whim from reservation check out.
A staggering eight restaurants offer a range of world cuisine from Japanese and Indian to Mediterranean and, of course, Italian and then there’s also the exclusive Armani Privé VIP Lounge which promises to have Dubai’s movers and shakers dancing ‘til dawn. The spa features personalized individual treatments from fitness programmes to thermal bathing and three retail outlets sell haute couture (previously available by invitation only), luxurious branded confectionary and fresh flower arrangements with vases designed again by the maestro himself.
And those to whom money is no object can buy into the lifestyle on a more permanent basis by purchasing one of 144 private Armani Residences on levels nine to 16.
The second Armani Hotel is set to launch in the fashion capital of Milan next year and other properties underway include the first Armani Resort, planned for Marrakech and Armani Villas in Marassi, Egypt. And with further hotels, resorts and residences rolling out into key markets from New York to Tokyo and Shanghai to London, well, we can safetly say that world dominance is indeed nigh.
