Nude Sunbathing: a Storm in a D-cup at Anzio

From looking at a picture of Jenny Mc Cartney, the author of the article, she is a gaunt, cadaverous, Triple A Cup, geeky, envious, spinster. who says a so called  "row" says much about Italy, but declines to say what exactly, or even generally what it says.

Further she seems quite oblivious to the Front page articles about the "banning" of topless at beaches  in France, that have been Not only "permissive" , but "proud" of their toplessness for at least 50 years. With many of the beaches I was at on the Riviera, most notably St.Tropez was also bottomless. (See article further below about France)

Anzio Beach was the location of a famous/disastrous amphibious landing during WWII by US Troops who were slaughtered by Germans. Given the choice of Bare Boobs or Bloodied Bodies, I say: Make Love , Not War, !!!!!!!!

A row on an Italian beach says much about that nation, says Jenny McCartney

Two of Italy's proudest female stereotypes " the protective mamma and the voluptuous bella signorina " clashed horribly last week on a public beach at Anzio, south of Rome. A mother became agitated after she saw a topless, well-endowed brunette slathering on the suncream in a style that "troubled" her two boys, aged 12 and 14. When the reproving Mamma ordered Luisa, 26, to cover up, the response was fierily in the negative, whereupon the police were called.

This incident has contributed greatly to the happiness of the Italian nation, with policemen giving sly quotes to the press about the impressive nature of Luisa's charms. Some wags have suggested that Silvio Berlusconi may feel the need to investigate this case personally.

The fad for topless sunbathing may have abated somewhat, but on certain beaches it remains a tradition, as does surreptitious ogling from teenage boys. In years to come, perhaps they will perfect the man's art of doing it from behind sunglasses and a newspaper ? and Mamma will realise that when it comes to matters of a "troubling" nature, there is a time to back off from her boys.

Mon Dieu! Topless Sunbathing Is Passe in France
Country that made it fashionable goes 'prudish'
Newser; By Alp_Arslan; Aug 15, 2010

The Italians are debating topless sunbathing, so it might come as no surprise that the French seem to be turning conservative. A generation ago, it was oh-so-chic when French women pioneered the movement, but now 88% of the French describe themselves as pudique (prudish.) Says one 23-year-old, "Mostly 50-year-old women do it."

Modern health concerns aside, notes the Los Angeles Times  in a look at the weighty issue, the change may be less about prudishness and more about fashion: "The French are aesthetically minded. Tan breasts used to be pretty, and now they are not, especially on an older body."
