NYC Columbus Day Parade is World's Largest Italian-American Celebration

The Parade will feature Italian music, dance and street performers, many floats that depict colorful and dramatic cultural icons, over a dozen marching bands, and national and international dignitaries. It will be broadcast on NBC-TV for 3 hours,  from noon until 3 p.m.

The New York City 2010 Columbus Day Parade will be the largest celebration of Italian-American heritage and culture in the world. The parade will feature various performances of Italian and Italian-American music, dance and street performers. There will also be many floats that depict colorful and dramatic cultural icons, over a dozen marching bands, and national and international dignitaries.

The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and will run north on Fifth Avenue from 47th to 72nd Street. The parade is expected to bring out millions of people and will be broadcast on WNBC-TV from noon until 3 p.m.  Studio Festi, who is an Italian producer of outdoor spectacles and theatrical displays, will have many colorful floats in the parade. Folk dancers and musicians from the United States and Italy will perform traditional Italian dances and songs.

This year?s parade honorees will include Jason DeSena Trennert, the founder of  Strategas Research Partners, and Frank Bisignano, who is the Chief Administrative Officer and an Operating Committee Member of JP Morgan Chase. These two men will be recognized for their exceptional achievement in the field of finance and philanthropic support for the Italian-American community. Thousands of uniformed civil servants of New York City will help to make the city run safe and efficiently.
