Jews Get Bashed in "Lake Shore" a Canadian Rip off of "Jersey Shore"

In response to  one character, Sibel Atlug, labelled "the Turk" , says in the trailer,  "I'm not racist because I hate everybody equally. Especially Jewish people."

Canadian Jewish Congress, chief executive officer Bernie Farber. was quick to condemn the trailer saying it is providing a "very scary message"

Gee Bernie, I didn't hear you speaking out about  people shouting about Hating Muslims, and you, or your American counterparts were certainly were speechless for the whole entire two seasons of the series of "Jersey Shore", that was a continuous, constant derogatory depiction of  Italians, not merely one sentence on a trailer. Does that make you look like a Hypocrite, a Whiny Wimp, or Opposed to Free Speech?

Anti-Semitic Comment Stirs Controversy for Lake Shore Trailer

The Toronto National Post;  November 11, 2010

An online trailer for a new Toronto-based reality show entitled Lake Shore, Canada?s answer to MTV?s popular Jersey Shore, is generating controversy even before the program has secured the backing of a major network.

Lake Shore mimics Jersey Shore?s eight young Italian Americans who spend their summers together partying, clubbing and having sex.

The eight-minute promo for the show, which has garnered more than a million views since it was posted online earlier this week, introduces each of the eight characters with interview clips highlighting their ethnic backgrounds

Meet the Cast:
Sibel - The Turk (she hates everyone 'especially Jewish people', but insists she is not a racist.)
Joey - The Italian (refers to himself as the 'No. 1 WOP'.)
Anni Mei - The Vietnamese (is animated and 'cartoony')
Tommy Hollywood - The Czech (has way too many different names)
Robyn - The Jew (hated by 'The Turk')
Salem - The Lebanese - Likes to wear Medieval costumes
Karolina - The Pole - 'Patient, artistic, creative, positive and energetic' - her words, not ours.
Downtown D - The Albanian  he gets his name because he is 'always downtown, Friday, Saturday, Thursday maybe and Sunday possibly' - so that means always downtown apparently.

The clip has been pulled offline due to a copyright claim but a shortened trailer is posted  at:

Near the end of the trailer, one character, Sibel Atlug, labelled "the Turk"  by producers, tells the audience: "I?m not racist because I hate everybody equally. Especially Jewish people."

The comment has been met with condemnation from the Canadian Jewish Congress, which says the trailer is providing a ?very scary message"

?In my view this is just the most insensitive, purile trashy way to get attention," said CJC chief executive officer Bernie Farber. "We seem to have entered an epoch where basically anything goes " It seems to be ?still okay? in the general sense of the term, to say how much you hate Jews, because the producers have allowed it." The show?s producers were unavailable for comment as of this morning.

Canadian producers roll out Toronto version of 'Jersey Shore'

If you didn?t think television could get any better than MTV?s "Jersey Shore". Canada?s version of the reality show is going to take your brain to a new level of madness.

The new reality program, "Lake Shore". held auditions this summer and has narrowed the cast down to the final eight. The group is a multi-ethnic mix of characters, and even defines the cast members by their ethnicities.

?Lake Shore" surprisingly, hasn?t been picked up by a network yet, but is already causing a stir across the web. The premise will be similar to "Jersey Shore," where cameras follow a group of rowdy twenty-somethings who are interested in little else than partying and hooking up.
