Jersey Shore Premieres HUGE - 8 Million

You then understand why Europeans look down on the US when the Jersey Shore premiere of Season 3 garnered 8 million viewers. A  bunch of goofy pretend Italian-Americans living in the same house,  watching them get naked when they shed their swimsuit and get into verbal confrontations with midgets? It can't. Soon half the cast will be guarding bridges - which would be their other occupation had they never gotten on the shore.   It is far worse than "Animal House". The viewers are the same people who would stand around for hours to witness a train wreck.

Everyone likes a spicy-meatball-a. 8 million people. 8 million people.
Jersey Shore premiered last night and managed to pull in ratings like a juggernaut, gaining over 8 million viewers. 8 million was large enough to put it ahead of all other Thursday-night offerings save for CBS? Big Bang Theory. Which is ironic, because a bunch of goofy Italian-Americans and pretend Italian-Americans living in the same house is the kind of premise that CBS would come up with. The 8.5 million viewers who assaulted their eyes with Ed Hardy steering wheel covers, shower caddies, and a new roommate proved to be a record for the show and a huge number for any sort of program airing on Thursdays.

It can?t get any better than this for the castmates. Seriously, how can you get better than 8.5 million viewers watching you shed your swimsuit and get into verbal confrontations with midgets? It can?t. Soon half the cast will be guarding bridges - which would be their other occupation had they never gotten on the shore.

To compare, the 18-49 ratings of other shows are as follows.

Glee gets a 4.7.

Two and a Half Men gets 4.8.

Modern Family gets a 4.9.

Jersey Shore got a 4.2. Insane. Balls-to-the-wall insane. MTV?s producers must be puking, they?re so happy.
