IAOVC  Names SallyAnn Salsano Winner of 2010 "Pasta-Tute" of the Year Award

Both  SallyAnn Salsano, and Johnny "Meatballs" DeCarlo speaking in the spirit of current "civil" discourse, it would seem only appropriate, that they both be "TARGETS" of the greatest Opprobrium, and that I could understand if a " HIT" were put out on both individuals, or they be fitted with "CEMENT SHOES" and deposited at the Jersey Shore. I am open to other appropriate expressions of displeasure. :)

Names SallyAnn Salsano Winner of 2010 "Pasta-Tute" of the Year Award

Anti Bias Coaltion periodically bestows "Pasta-Tute" award upon an Italian American who has "sold out" their heritage and "done the most" to tarnish the image of Italian Americans

NEW JERSEY---It's official - the votes are in for the 2010 Pasta-Tute of the Year award from the Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition!

It was an overwhelming choice of voters (members of the Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition) in this year?s selection of the Italian American selling out their heritage and a disgrace to their culture.

With 89% of the votes, the "anything-for-a-buck" purveyor of TV trash and producer of "Jersey Shore" and "My Big Friggin Wedding" - SallyAnn Salsano - is the 2010 Pasta-Tute of the Year!

The other nominee Johnny "Meatballs" DeCarlo, of self-proclaimed "Guido" fame and one of the cringe-evoking "cast" of "My Big Friggin Wedding" garnered only 21% of the votes.  "Does that confirm he is a loser?" Manny Alfano, ONE VOICE Founder, asked rhetorically.

Long-time ONE VOICE activist, Connie Notarino Pullman, said that both male and female coalition members overwhelmingly selected Salsano as the winner of the Pasta-Tute award, and that winners are not selected based on gender, but rather on their efforts in "selling out their Italian American Heritage"

?Sopranos" creator, David Chase, a three-time winner was also designated "lifetime winner" for his record in disgracing Italian American heritage. "Former mayor Rudy Giuliani is also a past recipient of this award due to his unabashed support of the Sopranos and his failure to recognize the insidious impact of pejorative programming," added Alfano.

?There is no question that Salsano is most deserving of this infamous honor," said Andre? DiMino, ONE VOICE President and immediate past national president of UNICO National.  "Her unequaled foray into demeaning and denigrating young Italian Americans in her train-wreck series ?Jersey Shore? exhibited her total commitment to self-hatred and crass opportunism - denigrating her own heritage and culture for economic gain."

DiMino added "what surely locked" in the award for her was her follow-up series "My Big Friggin Wedding" which reached "unparalleled new lows in exhibiting unbelievably reprehensible behavior" of the mostly-Italian American celebrity "wannabes" including losing Pasta-Tute nominee Johnny DeCarlo.  "Salsano is extremely adept at getting fame-hungry, young Italian Americans to expose themselves to the world with over-the-top disgraceful behavior and disrespect for themselves, their families and their heritage," DiMino said.

?This award is a criticism of Ms. Salsano?s work and judgment in creating productions which disparage our culture by unjustly depicting Italian American men and women as lacking moral integrity," stated Tom DeGenaro, ONE VOICE Vice President. "It just so happens that past recipients have all been men and an element of humor was attached to the serious nature of discontent. ONE VOICE is less than sanguine in making this year?s award to the voter?s choice of a woman, due to the obvious implication of the coined word, "Pasta-Tute." While there is justification in denouncing the pernicious nature of Ms. Salsano?s productions, there is certainly no intent to cast a negative reflection on her personal character. It is only her works and her judgment that are found reprehensible."

The Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition is a nationwide network of activists enabling the Italian American community to act as one united voice when dealing with defamation, discrimination and negative stereotyping.
