Silvio Berlusconi: The Endless Sex Scandals of Italy's Playboy Prime Minister
Daily Mirror: by Ryan Parry; Feb 19, 2011

TALES of his private life read like a steamy extract from Playboy boss Hugh Hefner's autobiography.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has had naked models carousing at his villa, faced allegations of serial infidelity and appears to have an unrelenting lust for attractive younger women.

And this week it emerged he will stand trial accused of paying to having sex with an underage girl.

As he faces his second divorce, Berlusconi is alleged to have paid to bed Moroccan nightclub dancer Karima El Mahroug, who was 17 at the time, and then covered it up. He denies the accusation, while Mahroug claims she said that she was 24.

The 74-year-old billionaire will also face a charge of abuse of power for allegedly pressuring police to drop theft claims against Mahroug, also known as Ruby the Heartstealer.

The 27-page indictment lists 13 nights Ruby spent at the premier's villa in Arcore, just outside Milan, last year "in exchange for sums of money paid in cash by the suspect" or by his accountant, or for other gifts such as jewellery.

In statements given to prosecutors last August, Ruby described meeting Berlusconi at his home on Valentine's Day last year: "He gave me an envelope with $50,000 (E42,000) in it. He said that my life would change and even if he didn't say it, it was not hard for me to see he was suggesting sex with him." But last year, talking about the premier, she also said: "It is the first time in my life that a man has not tried to take me to bed. He behaved like a father, I swear."

When the trial begins in Milan on April 16, the world will digest every salacious detail, with the smooth-talker's obvious attraction to young, voluptuous women having been the subject of much debate in Italy and across Europe for years.

The former cruise ship singer turned media mogul has had a long love affair with the opposite sex.

INDISCRETIONS

With his charming, macho approach, Berlusconi " known to Italians as Il Cavaliere, the cavalier" is the envy of many Italian men. But it is this playful attitude to the opposite sex that finally threatens to topple his centre-right government.

His list of alleged indiscretions seems endless since he hit the headlines in 2008 amid accusations of romps with hookers at his Rome villa.

Escort girl Patrizia D'Addario claimed she had sex with him at a party there - and said she had video evidence in which Berlusconi tells her: ?Go and wait for me in the big bed.??

It was also claimed dozens of Eastern European models were asked to go to his Sardinia villa dressed as Father Christmas. In 2009, prostitute Maria Teresa De Nicolo, 39, told an inquiry she slept with the PM and two other women in a four-in-the-bed romp.

And last year escort Nadia Macri 28, claimed to have been paid ?10,000 (?8,400) to have sex with the Prime Minister after being stopped at traffic lights by a man who offered to introduce her to him.

When Berlusconi?s long-suffering wife Veronica, 54, announced she was divorcing him, she also complained of his selection of attractive young women as candidates for European Parliament elections.

Berlusconi then fended off allegations he had an improper relationship with a teenage model seeking work at a TV station he owns.

He had attended Noemi Letizia?s 18th birthday party and gave her a ?4,000 gold and diamond necklace = much to the annoyance of Veronica, who said he had not attended his own sons? 18th birthday parties.

His love for beautiful women had even reached the Italian cabinet when he notoriously appointed former topless model Mara Carfagna to the post of equal opportunities minister in 2008.

The year before she was appointed, Berlusconi publicly told her: "I?d marry you like a shot if I wasn?t married already." His outrageous flirting prompted his wife to write a scathing letter in a newspaper and Berlusconi had to make a public apology.

Berlusconi, who performed as a cruise ship crooner while at university, keeps his female guests amused by serenading them with love songs. He has even released two romantic albums.

Born in Milan in 1936, he studied law after leaving school and then launched himself into the construction world. In the 1960s he raised enough money to build Milano 2, a huge residential project of 10,500 apartments.

The budding entrepreneur then entered the media world in 1973 by setting up a small cable television company, Telemilano - and by 1980 had created Italy?s first private national network, Canale 5.

Today the media mogul, who also owns AC Milan football club, is the third richest man in Italy with a ?5billion fortune. ....Alongside the latest criminal trial Berlusconi stands accused of bribing David Mills, the estranged lawyer husband of the former Olympics minister Tessa Jowell, with ?370,000 to lie under oath about his tax affairs. He temporarily avoided the charge by using government immunity laws but the Constitutional Court in Rome decided last month to haul him back to court.

He also faces a third trial on tax fraud charges for allegedly declaring inflated costs of US film rights for his television company Mediaset.

Berlusconi denies any wrongdoing, describing himself the "most persecuted man in history".

His chief legal adviser Nicolo Ghedini has strongly defended him over paying for sex, saying: "Berlusconi could have women in large numbers for free."

LIBIDO

As for the Italian people, many strangely admire their playboy premier.

Professor James Walston, a British lecturer on Italian politics in Rome, told the Mirror: "These scandals will have very little effect on Berlusconi?s popularity and the majority of Italians will even approve of it. Most Italian men and, to a certain extent some women, will have a higher opinion of him for what he has been involved in."

But some believe this latest episode could be his undoing " a million people took to the streets in 200 cities last Sunday to protest against his alleged romps with Ruby and other "good-time girls".

The angry crowds chanted for the resignation of their "paedophile premier"  (A 17 yr old going on 24.Experienced Hooker)                                  [The Vatican is right down the street,, if they are REALLY interested in Pedophilia, and not embarassing a teen age "entrpreneur" ]

Maybe Berlusconi and his libido do have something to fear after all...
