It is a shocking abuse to have Public Monies used to subsidize and promote violence, criminal behavior and ethnic stereotyping. 
 

President Andre? DiMino: "Bigotry and bad behavior should never be subsidized, so we thank the Governor for doing the right thing."

NEW JERSEY- Last week Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition President Andre? DiMino , called upon Governor Christie, all State legislators and the Economic Development Authority to immediately cancel the $420,000 tax subsidy to MTV?s "Jersey Shore", calling it a "shocking abuse"  Today DiMino lauded the Governor?s announcement to veto the subsidy.

?Outstanding!  We are so pleased at the Governor?s quick response to our request and his decisive action today",  stated DiMino upon learning about the veto. "Public funds should never be used to subsidize bigotry and the reprehensible behavior spewed by this show".  ONE VOICE is the nation?s largest Italian American anti-bias organization of more than 5,000 activists who defend Italian heritage. 

In a statement issued last week DiMino, stated "The New Jersey Economic Development Authority has abrogated the public trust by awarding a tax credit to a show that not only stereotypes Italians, but promotes violence, and cast members who revel in openly breaking the law".  DiMino said.   ?Public monies should never be used to subsidize and promote violence, criminal behavior and ethnic stereotyping. This is disgraceful, and we are calling upon Governor Christie and all our legislators to immediately stop the tax credit for ?Jersey Shore.? 

DiMino, who as past National President of UNICO led the charge against "Jersey Shore" with more than several hundred interviews on TV, radio, newspapers and blogs, added that the public monies should be applied for a far better benefit.

ONE VOICE is different from all other Italian American groups in that its sole focus and objective is to fight bias, stereotyping and discrimination against Italian Americans.  It is the only national Italian American organization with this mandate.
