It was meant to be Canada's answer to MTV's Jersey Shore  but, unlike its wildly successful American counterpart, Lake Shore's racial stereotypes will never expose the world to their rock hard abs; nevermind their tanning or laundry secrets.

According to the Toronto Star   producer Marayam Rahimi broke the news to the ethnically diverse cast via e-mail on October 2, writing "I am sorry to say this, but it's over." The message goes on to say that, although three networks showed interest, all eventually decided to pass on the show....

The reality show claimed that its aim was "to answer the question what happens when eight vibrant and volatile twenty-something Torontonians from different backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations shack up." However many critics warned that it was a blatant attempt to abuse the multi-cultural status of Toronto, including Bernie Farber, then CEO of the Canadian Jewish Congress, who described the show as "racist."

Cultural commentator Violin opined that, in his professional opinion, the show was "too controversial for Canada."

Robyn Perza ("The Jew") agreed, citing an anti-semitic comment that Sibel Atlug ("The Turk") was filmed saying as the cause of network concern. "The Jewish comment that was said ? I think it might have had a lot to do with it," she's reported as saying, adding that networks "didn't want to put an anti-semitic racial thing on TV."
