Get ready for a story with a happy ending, and everyone wins!!!

Professor Emeritus James Mancuso brought to my attention the existence
of a Web Site called Guido.com, selling Italian Items. I zipped off an Email
forthwith following on to his. Apparantly a number of members of IAOV and NIAC
did likewise.

To those of you who took the time and effort to express your opinion,
be proud, and take a bow!

Mr. Anthony Manetta Manetta, owner of the Web Site, deserves commendation
for his Immediate and Appropriate Response, in both changing the Name of the
Web Site, and issuing a Formal Apology (See Below).

I hope that many of you will consider either sending a brief Email of
"Thanks",
or Anthony would probably be just as pleased to have you visit his Site.

From:Anthony Manetta @ info@italysfinest.com, and info@manetta.net
To all of our Customers and Visitors,

This letter is to inform you that our site GuidoShop.com is now operating
under its new name, ItalysFinest.com due to several complaints we have
received regarding our name.  We apologize if our name has been offensive in
any way.  We would like to note that our operating intention was, and still
is, to promote Italian-American pride and provide an open and light-hearted
forum for Italian-Americans to meet and share in enjoyment.

We would like you to know that we have given serious and respectful
consideration to the complaints made by various members of a Yahoo Internet
group regarding the word “Guido.”   We assure you that we have meant nothing
more offensive in associating the word “Guido” with Italians, as associating
the word “jock” with an individual that is active in sports.  We understand
the power of negative stereotyping, but declare that we do not feel that the
word “Guido” connotes a negative representation.

In turn, we value the complaints that we have received from individuals who
wrote to us in a courteous and respectful manner.  However, those
complaints, which came in the form of personal attacks on the creator of our
site and on our products, we felt were out of place.  We detest the
assumption that our site was intended to do anything less than encourage
Italian-American pride....

Most personally, our site creator is a third-generation Italian-American,
a business owner, and a community activist.  The site was assuredly not
anticipated to offend or degrade Italian-Americans.  We advocate pride in
our Country, pride in our heritage, and pride in our ancestors.  We will
continue to sell Italian novelty items that promote such pride under our new
name, ItalysFinest.com.

Thank you.
