(1) SCORSESE'S "JOURNEY THROUGH ITALY" SCREENED AT
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA FILM FESTIVAL
Filmmaker Martin Scorsese paid homage to his country of origin with
"My
Journey Through Italy" being presented at the Sydney Film Festival
in
Australia.
In a four-hour anthology of segments from 30 Italian films, Scorsese
begins
with the spectacular "Cabiria" and then focuses on Luchino Visconti
and
Roberto Rossellini's neorealism film classics, then on Vittorio De
Sica and
Michelangelo Antonioni and ends with Federico Fellini.
For Italian-American Mr. Scorsese this represents a journey in search
of his
esthetic formation as a movie director through his ethnic Italian heritage.
The Sydney Festival presented over 140 feature films, documentaries
and short
movies from 39 countries.
