In the Italy vs Croatia game, the Referee admitted, after seeing replays,
that he mistakenly invalidated 2 Italy goals, resulting in a loss 3-2.

In the Italy vs Mexico game, replays after the game, showed that an Italy
goal had been wrongly invalidated (incorrect offside call) , resulting in a
1-1 tie, rather than a victory.

Despite those "bum" calls Italy made it to the Second Round.

In Italy vs South Korea, replays after the game, showed that an Italy goal
in the "sudden death" overtime had been wrongly invalidated (incorrect
offside
call), which would have resulted in an Immediate Italy Victory!!!!

Instead Francesco Totti, influential playmaker, was Ejected in the 13th minute,
on a Very suspect non contact foul. 14 minutes later South Korea scored.

With all the Revealed Conspiracies of Refereeing and Judging in the Olympics,
under the above circumstances, one cannot help but be Cynical and Skeptical.
The entire spectrum of the government in Italy was outraged.

Or are we to chalk it up to the frenzied 38,588 South Korea fans in sold out
Daejeon Stadium, with 90,000 more fans just outside the stadium, watching on
a giant screen? Talk about "hometown" advantage (or intimidation)!!!!!

South Korea is to be given credit for playing with great heart, and never
giving up.
"The Azzurri" besides condolences, deserve credit for being unperturbed by
the
chanting, drum beating, horn honking, flagwaving, firework exploding "Red
Devil" fans, among draped banners that read" Welcome to Azzurri's Tomb",
and "The Gates of Hell Await".

The following details Italy News reports on government reaction

WORLD CUP SOCCER ELIMINATION RAISES
PROTESTS FROM GOVERNMENT

Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was perhaps the most diplomatic voice of
government yesterday when commenting on Italy's loss to South Korea in the
second round of soccer's World Cup.

"A real shame," Berlusconi limited himself to saying.

President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi was more explicit, "Italy deserved to win," he
said.

House Speaker Pierferdinando Casini said he was "sad and outraged", while
Senate President Marcello Pera said that "the Italian people feel that they
were robbed".

Public Service Minister Franco Frattini had the harshest words, saying that
"the refereeing was an outrage", adding that "it looks like there was a
conspiracy in place to eliminate Italy from the Cup".

Former President Francesco Cossiga spoke of "shameful refereeing".

BIPARTISAN VOICES CALL FOR ITALIAN
SOCCER CHIEF TO STEP DOWN

Members of the governing majority and those of the opposition have called for
Federcalcio (Italian Soccer Federation) President Franco Carraro to step down.

Carraro has been criticized recently for not defending Italy's soccer
interests following a series of controversial refereeing decisions in Italy's
World Cup matches.

The first to call for Carraro's dismissal, just minutes after yesterday's
match, was UDC (Union of Christian Democrats) House Leader Luca Volonti.

Yet Volonti was not alone. Joining him were Marco Zacchera of AN (National
Alliance), Paolo Cento of the Greens, Marco Rizzo of the Party of Italian
Communists, and Luigi Peruzzotti of the Margherita (Daisy).

The Forza Italia (Go Italy) Party offered a sarcastic solution when it
suggested that Silvio Berlusconi assume the interim presidency of the
Federcalcio in place of Carraro.

In an attempt to lighten the dark atmosphere caused by yesterday's events,
Fabio Mussi of the opposition DS (Democrats of the Left) Party said, "At one
point in the match I found myself shouting 'Forza Italia'", the name of
Berlusconi's party.
