RAISAT TO CELEBRATE U.S. INDEPENDENCE DAY 
WITH DAY-LONG PROGRAMMING

Television journalist Gianni Riotta will open a day-long celebration of 
America on RAISAT, the state radio and television RAI's satellite channel. 

"No future is imaginable if Europe and the United States drift from each 
other," Riotta said. 

Tomorrow, the 4th of July, RAI's seven channels will celebrate American 
civilization with 24 hour programming dedicated to American art, cinema, 
cuisine, entertainment, history and culture. 

"I would like to see America expend more energy in coming to terms with the 
hard realities it finds itself facing, and to see Europe take a break from 
numbers crunching in order to enjoy a moment of collective happiness," Riotta 
said.
