ITALY WILL TAKE PART IN AMERICAN STAR WARS PROJECT

Italy will participate in completing America's antimissile space defense system. Giorgio Zappa, president of Alenia Spazio (a subsidiary of Finmeccanica), made the announcement. 

Alenia and Boeing IDS signed a memorandum in Farnborough that describes an open relationship for the development of a cooperative industrial project. 

The project is described as an integrated antimissile defense system. 

Two agreements were actually signed: one with EADS, and another with Finmeccanica who will participate in the project with Alenia Spazio. 

Italy is the first European country to announce its intentions to cooperate on the project.
