One wonders why there isn't a greater PUSH by Major Italian American Organizations to encourage Italian American Big Business to consider
Italy for some of their off shore production, especially since it permits easy
entry to the rest of the Euro market tariff free!

Southern Italy and Sicily would of course deserve most serious consideration.

(AGI) - Palermo, 22 gen. - US businessmen have shown interest in investing in Sicily, according the US Consul General in Italy, Clyde Bishop, who today met with the Region's President, Salvatore Cuffaro, in Palazzo d'Orleans, which houses the regional parliament, in Palermo.

Bishop explained that the parties interested are investors with a particular interest in tourism infrastructure, as for example golf courses.

The Consul asked Cuffaro for information concerning fiscal regimes applying both regionally and nationally, as well as information on immigration policies and labour, including article 18 of the workers' charter.

"Large US groups have shown concrete signs of interest in Italy and Sicily", Bishop confirmed.

"We are going to ride the government's successful strategies", said Cuffaro. (AGI)
